Waterside Gold Coast Council shade structure installed by Versatile Structures

Waterside – Gold Coast City Council

When the Gold Coast City Council offices at Waterside West in Brisbane needed a breezeway designed and installed that offer citizens protection from the elements and break-out area, they approached Versatile Structures.

Their vision was to achieve a stylish, yet functional solution to connect their two office buildings, and accommodate a breakout area for the team members to sit and enjoy a coffee with work colleagues. The Versatile Structures team custom designed, manufactured, and installed a polycarbonate-roofed breezeway with windbreak walls and knot wood aluminium decorative battens to the entirety of the underside.

This project involved many intricate elements from angles and cuts to panels and battens, and fully integrated in-slab service like post tensioning and electrical and water supply. The steelwork is HDG and 2Pac finish, with internal lighting conduits, as well as the integration of lights within the batten layout. The install included mobilisation of plant and equipment, and after-hours deliveries and noise controls, to avoid disruption of adjacent Council office buildings.

We completed the project with no major disruption and the Gold Coast City Council was thrilled with the structure appeal, increased functionality and mutual collaboration they achieved.
